WeeDrive for Teens with Disabilities

Safe transportation services for teens aged 12-18

Accounts on WeeDrive

As the world continues to grow and change, our commitment to providing a safe experience for drivers and users will always be a priority. This is especially true with the introduction of rides for teens with disabilities.

Accounts are the only authorized way for teens aged 12-18 to use the WeeDrive platform with consent from their legal guardian. Guardians who add an account to their Family profile will be notified every time their teen requests a ride—and they'll get real-time alerts plus live trip tracking so they can follow their teen's ride in the app, from pickup to dropoff.

Mandatory Safety and Responsibilities for Drivers

Drivers transporting disabled students to after-school activities must:

  • Maintain the safety of all students and the disabilities aide on the minibus
  • Ensure that all students are seated and that any harnesses or belts are properly secured before moving off
  • Ensure each student is picked up/dropped off at the designated points
  • Be familiar with information contained in the Student Details section of the platform
  • Inform parents/carers of pick-up and drop-off times
  • Advise parents/carers and schools or facilities if the service is running more than 15 minutes early or late
  • Inform parents through platform operator of any student absences or changes in transport arrangements (e.g., appointments, respite)
  • Endeavour to maintain the timetable for the service, which will require checking to ensure the service is not running early or not delayed through waiting for students
  • If a student cannot be dropped off because the parent/carer or responsible adult is not present, complete and leave a Parent/Carer Not in Attendance form at the student's address
  • Ensure that the minibus has an operational and accessible mobile phone
  • Maintain a current route map and emergency contact details for all students
  • Transport students to respite facilities as directed by the school or facility or the platform operator
  • Ensure that students are transported along approved routes, unless otherwise approved by the platform operator
  • Ensure that all students transported are included on the student attendant list of the platform

Guardians will also have access to live trip tracking and will receive status updates for every trip their teen requests. They'll also be able to contact you directly during the trip.

Always-on Safety

Teen riders will always have access to safety features including PIN verification and RedButton.

Verify My Ride

Before a teen gets in the minibus, they'll have to give you a unique PIN. You'll be unable to start the trip until you enter the correct code into the WeeDRIVE Driver app. This will help the teen make sure they're getting into the right minibus—and it will help ensure that you're picking up the right rider.

FAQs

How do teens get/set up a teen account?

Teens must be invited by their guardian to set up a teen account on the guardian's Family profile.

Can I contact the teen's guardian?

No, you will not be able to contact teen users' guardians at this time. However, a parent/guardian may call you during the trip. Your phone number will stay anonymous in the app, so they won't have your personal contact information.

How will I know if the teen's guardian is calling me?

You won't. All calls—including those made by guardians—will be connected through WeeDrive's private calling system.
