Take control of your privacy and learn how we protect it.
'Explore your data' summarises the information that we think is most interesting to you, including a summary of your trips, your rider rating, and basic account information.
We've built a collection of privacy features to give you more control over your data.
When you use WeeDrive's service, you trust us with your personal data. We're committed to keeping that trust, and that starts with helping you understand our privacy practices. Our Privacy Principles set the foundation for how we approach privacy at WeeDrive.
Responsible data management is a prerequisite for continuous innovation. We maintain the value of personal data for WeeDrive and our users by handling data as users expect, keeping it accurate and complete, and properly destroying it when it is no longer needed. This improves our products, earns and keeps our users' trust, and differentiates us in the market.
Privacy is an important component for building world-class products and service, from inception to rollout and beyond. Performing privacy reviews on new and changed products, technologies, and service makes sure they fulfill users' expectations and forms the bedrock of an exceptional customer experience. This is called "privacy-by-design."
We have a specific objective in mind when collecting, using, or handling personal data that is consistent with our objectives and values. We collect and use only the amount of personal data we need for approved and lawful purposes.
We are forthright about the personal data we collect and how we're using and sharing it. We do what we say.
We give users clear choices about their privacy and controls that are easy to use so that they can manage their data.
We provide reasonable and appropriate safeguards to prevent loss, and unauthorized use or disclosure, of personal data.
With the WeeDrive apps, accessing transport is at your fingertips. Understanding how and why your data is used should be just as easy.
Your location data makes it more convenient for drivers to know where to pick you up.
Your location data helps us plan your route to your destination and also gives you the peace of mind that you're in the right vehicle and that we know where you are along your journey.
If you use the in-app emergency button to call the emergency service, your name, mobile phone number and the car's make, model, colour, number plate and live location are automatically made available to dispatchers.
When you book a trip, we put a temporary authorisation hold on your card for an approximate amount based on the estimated fare. Once your booking is confirmed, your card is charged the estimated fare plus any additional costs.
What we collect: Your device's location
When we collect it: If you're using an iOS device, you can choose how you share your location with WeeDrive:
Even if you choose 'Always', WeeDrive will only collect your location data when you're actively using the app, on a trip or you have requested a trip.
In this setting, which provides you with the best trip experience, the WeeDrive app is considered 'in use' when it's visible on your screen or when you're taking a trip.
If you select 'Ask next time', your device will prompt you to choose 'Always', 'While in use' or 'Never' next time you open the WeeDrive app.
If you select 'Never', we won't collect your device's location data. You can still use the app, but you'll need to enter your pick-up and drop-off locations manually.
You can also choose whether or not to share your precise location. Turning on precise location makes it easier for WeeDrive to find your location and facilitate pick-ups.
What we collect: Your device's location
When we collect it: If you're using an Android device, you can choose how you share your location with WeeDrive:
Even if you choose 'Allow all the time', WeeDrive will only collect your location data when you're actively using the app, on a trip, or you have requested a trip.
If you select 'Ask every time', your device will prompt you to choose 'Allow all the time', 'Allow only while using the app' or 'Deny' each time you open the WeeDrive app.
In this setting, which provides you with the best trip experience, the WeeDrive app is considered 'in use' when it's visible on your screen or when you're taking a trip.
If you select 'Deny', we won't collect your device's location data. You can still use the app, but you'll need to enter your pick-up and drop-off locations manually.
You can also choose to allow your device to use GPS, Wi-Fi, mobile networks and sensors to improve the accuracy of your location. When you turn off location accuracy, your device only uses GPS, which can be slower and less accurate on its own.
If you ever need to call the emergency service through the WeeDrive app, you can choose to share your trip details with the emergency dispatcher. Trip details include the car's make, model, colour and number plate. We also share your name, phone number, location and your driver's name.
You can turn emergency data sharing on or off in the app by tapping Settings, then Privacy.
When we collect it: When you call the emergency service through the WeeDrive app.
Your payment information, including credit card details, is encrypted and stored in a secure digital vault. When you enter your credit card information in the app, no one can access it, even if someone else gets into your account.
When we collect it: When you create your account and when you add a payment method
In most markets drivers only see your approximate pickup location before accepting a trip. After the trip ends, address details are removed and drivers only see the approximate location of your pickup and dropoff.
The type of approximate pickup and dropoff location shown to drivers varies based on address structures in your market, local regulations and driver loyalty programs. Some examples of approximate location formats include: cross-street, street name, point of interest and special formats such as the terminal and door number you should meet at for an airport pickup.
You don't need to turn on your device's location service to use the WeeDrive app. However, certain features, like sharing your trip with trusted contacts, require location information to work.
If you don't use location service, you can still use WeeDrive by manually entering your pickup and dropoff locations in the app. You can also use cross streets or landmarks instead of an address.
You can choose whether to use location service in the privacy settings of your WeeDrive app.
If your device is set up to share your location with WeeDrive, you can also choose to share your live pickup location with your driver. When live location sharing is enabled, your location will be shared with your driver only when they are close to your pickup location and the ETA is less than 3 minutes.
This feature is turned on by default, but you have the ability to pause or disable this feature at any time during the pickup. You can also turn this feature on and off in your settings.
